Monte (43°29′N, 3°48′O) is a municipality of Santander (Cantabria, Spain) located at the North of the capital, 2.4 km from the city centre. Its coast includes the beaches of El Bocal, Rosamunda and La Maruca. It is made up of the following neighbourhoods San Miguel, Aviche, Bolado, La Torre, Ateca and Corbanera. Since it overlooks the see it was a good military settlement. According to the 2010 census the population of Monte was of 2,266 citizens.

Matilde Camus although born in Santander is associated with Monte where her ancestors come from. She has been physically and espiritually linked to this place being present in the cultural life and writting a number of books and poems to this beautiful area as follows

As requested by the residents association of Monte and his President Paulino Castanedo a Museum was inaugurated with all her writtings in poetry and research as well as a number of personal belongings and manuscript. This Museum is located just beside the Church in the old Townhall and was open by the Cultural city Counselor of Santander in the year 2006.
