tower, monument, Brick Gothic (architecture)
Senator Tower is the highest of the three fully preserved turrets on the Wawel Hill. It was built in the mid-fifteenth century, in the lower floors of stone, the upper of brick.
The tower has been repeatedly damaged by fires, including in 1656, during the Swedish occupation, and renewed. Around the year 1858 it was rebuilt (like other bastions of Wawel) by the Austrians. Further adverse alteration took place during the Nazi occupation. The restoration of the historic tower has been completed in the years 2002 - 2003
