East Ural Radioactive Trace

Russia / Cheljabinsk / Tyubuk /
dangerous place / area, radioactive, draw only border, do not draw title

The East Ural Radioactive Trace (EURT) is the area contaminated as a result of the Mayak Explosion. The Soviet government in 1968 disguised the EURT area by creating the East-Ural Nature Reserve, which prohibited any unauthorized access to the affected area.

(Please note that the actual area is much bigger. But due to Wikimapia's ridiculous polygon size restrictions, creating an accurate polygon at this point is, unfortunately, not possible)

Comments

  • There is a good opportunity to practice man made activity on a geological scale. Entire radioactive material should be taken out of the waters and ground, concentrated and stabilized for long time storage.
  • In Soviet Russia, we don't take radioactivity out of the ground, instead, we take land away from people.
