Old mine workings on Alnwick moor. Coal was extracted using bell pits. These were holes dug downwards then hollowed out inside in the shape of a bell as the name suggests. Extraction continued until the pit became very dangerous. Over 100 hundred of the pits were dug. This area however is very dangerous.
