Monumental sculptures started here in about 1980 by artist Lars Wilks, the area is now the humorously self-proclaimed country of Ladonia, home to the towering Nimis and other works.
Once set for destruction by the Swedish government, and now developing an enthusiastic world-wide following, with imaginary "citizenship" available. (Donations accepted.)
It was shown on a 2007 episode of a British-based adventure-tourism television series.
