island, interesting place, Natura 2000
The Dead Dog (Dutch: De Dode Hond) is an artificial island which served in the creation of the IJsselmeerpolders. Its name comes from a story that one of the island workers had a dog with him, which happened to die while being on the until then nameless island and was buried there.
