This old school was built in 1883 and replaced one of the original public schools built in the 1830's. Today the school is an apartment building and retains many of the fine architectural details of the original school. It is located at 206 North Pearl Street.

While the pediment on the top of the building is gone, the restoration of this school seems to be excellent. Notice the girls and boys entrances on either side of the building. This was the norm in late 19th and early 20th century schools.

The newer picture is from 2004, and the older one is from 1894.
