The Noryangjin Fish Market was was originally established in 1927 and formally operated by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries. There are a number of fresh seafood markets in Seoul but Noryangjin is the largest. The market moved to it’s current building in 1971.

Noryangjin Fish Market occupies over 66,000 square meters/216,535 square feet and houses more than 700 shops. Most sell fresh seafood while others sell dried fish products. The market has a significant section of agricultural products so fruits and vegetables will be found as well. Over a dozen different restaurants can be found within the market.

The wholesale auctions begin at 1 in the morning and run until 6 in the evening each day except for Sunday while retail sales begin at 3 in the morning and run until 9 in the evening every day.
