Merida Beach

The owner of the Estación Biológica de Ometepe, Rene Molina is building a private residence next to the public beach in Merida. When we visited in December 2007, Mr Molina threatened my family, guests and I as well as the local children playing on the beach, that "if his guard dog got loose, it wouldn't be his problem". Locals fear he is trying to expropriate the beach for his private use. I urge you not to patronize any of the Molina family's properties including the Cascada San Ramon or his son's Hotel Merida.
