The largest research library in Maine, with collections and services supporting the faculty, students, and staff of the university as well as the residents of Maine. The collection includes more than 1.08 million volumes, 5,438 periodical subscriptions, 1.64 million microforms, 2.302 million U.S. and Canadian federal government publications, access to more than 25,000 serials and more than 200 databases. Services, collections, and departments include Circulation and Reserve, the Reference Department, the Science and Engineering Center, Special Collections, Government Documents and Microforms, Interlibrary Loan, a Spatial and Economic Data Service, Canadian Studies, a Patent and Trademark Depository, the Media Resource Center, and the Cohen Archives. The library's on-line public catalog, URSUS, provides 24-hour access to the holdings of the libraries in the University of Maine System, the Maine State Library, Maine State Law and Legislative Library, and Bangor Public Library.
