Kushmandi is a town with a police station, a community development block, and an assembly constituency in Gangarampur subdivision of Dakshin Dinajpur district in the Indian state of West Bengal.It is a block headquarter of Kushmandi Block. It is the boarder of Uttar Dinajpur and Dakshin Dinajpur. Mahipal Dighi, a large lake, is located in Kushmandi block. It was dug by Mahipal II of the Pal dynasty. On the northern bank of the lake was the nilkuthi of an indigo merchant Thomas, who was a friend of William Carey. The ruins of the nilkuthi are still there.
