store / shop, office building
Built in 1971 and named for the historic Glasgow Empire Theatre that used to stand on the site. The Glasgow Empire, before its demolition in 1963 was nicknamed the "Comedian's Graveyard" owing to the great many English celebrities that crashed and burned on its stage in the formative years of their careers.
As for the current building, it is a typical 1970s-era combined office block and street level retail complex of the period. The interesting part of the story is that the building's most famous tenant - Dino's Restaurant - had a hand in its design. Tenants of the other shop units have come and gone over the years, but Dinos is still there, and going strong!
