Vila Flora is a neighbourhood planned and built under the principles of the New Urbanism, that brings back the quality of life only found in small villages and communities. This new neighbourhood covers an area of 800 thousand square meters (957000 square yards) of over 3 thousand houses that put together 49 condominium units.
Vila Flora, the first planned neighbourhood built in 1999 in the Sumaré city, is 75 miles apart from São Paulo and 30 minutes away by car from Campinas downtown.
Its project can be truly defined as a social engineering project, based on the idea of developing integration and cooperation among their inhabitants, in order to stimulate autonomy, creativity and solidarity of the community;
Vila Flora structured and organized its own inhabitants' association, in order to promote participative administration, reinforcing effective commitment of each settler with the rules of a healthy relationship.
