Once fast sweeping corner after the pits, which was replaced with a chicane to slow down the cars.

During the 1968 French Grand Prix, Jo Schlesser was killed in an accident on the third lap of the race. In the Grand Prix de Rouen of 1970 Denis Dayan suffered a suspension failure at over 120mph, and was killed when the car hit the barriers at this corner. Finally, the death of Gerry Birrell in practice for the 1973 Grand Prix de Rouen, meant changes needed to be done to this section of the circuit.
