The Joliet Correctional Center was open from 1858 to 2002. It was used as the primary location for the first season of Fox's Prison Break. It was also the prison from which Jake Blues is released from at the beginning of The Blues Brothers. Not to be confused with the still-open Stateville Prison on the other side of the Des Plaines River north of town.
