Shinhama Imperial Wild Duck Preserve have a pond, known as Motodamari covering an area of 13,000 square meters, to which over 10,000 wild ducks and other birds flock every year on their migration for the winter.
The duck-netting season at the Imperial Wild Duck Preserves (from mid-November to mid-February of the following year) is when the ground is used by domestic and foreign guests by the gracious permission of His Majesty the Emperor.
