  • Joydeb & Joydeb mela does indeed a complete different experience to those visitors who are willing to spend a couple of days completely differently. Far away from the homely comforts. sitting and sleeping with the bauls, sufis and kirtaniyas with their haunting tunes boosting you up, it's really mindblowing. Only thing is that you ought to have a passion for folk music and willingness to take hardships along with their steps. I still feel the same urge and compulsion, to go back to Joydeb Mela, which I had when I first started going to Joydeb a decade back. Since then I have gone back to Joydeb every year.
  • yes. that's right. u need 2 have that kind of inclination. it's incredible. intermingling of elites and not so elites, and rural folks and those songs with earthy fragrance, the chilly wind in the bank of Ajoy perfectly blended with smell of Chhillam ..... fantastic. I visited this congregation in the month of Jan 2012, before i proceeded to Antarctica with the Govt Expedition team . I am carrying with me the cherished memories of the night of Makarsankranti in Kenduli Joydev.
  • that's exactly the feel . when u are going to visit this place again, Amitav ?
  • Time for celebrating the Joydev Kenduli Mela at Kenduli, in Birbhum West Bengal. The Kenduli Mela in Birbhum gives you the wonderful opportunity to hear to the music of these wandering minstrels who believe in the simplicity of love and life. You are sure to be impressed by their magnetic performances. https://www.facebook.com/events/1414462902123128/
