This site was once a sand and gravel pit then was used by the Boro of Glassboro as a municipal dump then filled in. They tried to extend the orchard adjacent to this dump; however, the trees repeatedly died as a result of CO2 migrating through the soil from the dump. About ten years ago a developer was going to building houses on this land but stopped. I think it had something to do with the fact that there is waste burried here. Go figure.
