USA / New York / Wheatley Heights /
 sculpture, interesting place

"La Paix" by Dejean. Standing thirteen feet tall - dominating the center of the first class dining room of the french liner NORMANDIE. This gilded statue of a toga-clad woman, one arm raised and offering an olive branch, now presides over the "Garden of Normandie" at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Paix = Peace (from Latin pax) usually refers to a state of calm or tranquility as an absence of disturbance, agitation or conflict. It is sometimes seen as a social and political ideal.
