The Sea View Apartments were initiated back in mid-1970s to compliment the (now demolished) casino being built. This was during the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's tenure and he had envisioned the oil-rich Arab Sheikhs coming to gamble at the casino and staying in these apartment houses.
But after the Zia-ul-Haq led coup, these apartments were sold to the general public. Initially very few people were interested in living here, but later on, due to the city-wide political riots of the early 90s, people from all over Karachi started to pour in here. The prices of these apartments skyrocketed.
