Dulowska Forest (Дулово)

Poland / Malopolskie / Trzebinia / Дулово
 park, forest

The present Dulowska Forest is only a small piece of what used to be a great forest spread between Cracow and Przemsza River (distance of about 40 kms). Today the Forest covers the area of 1300 ha (13 square kms). In the northern part it is sandy and dry with pines as dominating trees. In the south it is more humid with peat bogs, alder-trees and pines. It is home to many species of animals, such as roe-deer (in the number of 1000), deer and some more rare species like elks and beavers. The first 2 pairs of beavers were re-introduced to the Forest in 1985. Today their population is about 40 and is permanently increasing. Thanks to their activity an area of 20 ha was flooded. You can also find here black grouse, lapwings, goshawks, buzzards and corncrakes. Dulowska Forest is part of Jurajski Nature Reserve. Cyclists may use a cycle route.
