  Really, really bad contamination here. 10-30 R/hr in some places. And yet probably the single biggest place for looters and thieves in the entire zone. Apparently everybody sees all this junk and thinks "free vehicles!". The authorities caught a couple of people in 2008 trying to steal an entire Mil-8 helicopter on a flatbed truck. The idiots were going to make it into a café. Perhaps their customers would enjoy some roentgens with their coffee?

  Based on translating the Russian version of this, it seems the Ukranians utterly failed in every way to protect this site. Most of it has been stolen now and sold illegally to be melted down into other things. Irradiated water pipes are showing up in major cities in the Ukraine.
