This has been the rain-drain cum waste drainage for the area. Now it is encroached legally or illegally by rich people who have constructed expensive homes over it.

Since recent years of flooding throughout the city these encroachments have been demolished to once again allow the free flow of open sewage throughout this major cosmopolitan centre. The accompanying plagues of typhoid, cholera, hepatitis and other diseases can now be enjoyed fully by the entire population of Karachi. In the rainy season, when this nala overflows, the city's destitute urchins can be seen frolicking in the overflow, joyously entertaining themselves in the plague filled deluge.
