Peninsula
"The island of flamingos"

Ras R'mal (Arabic: رأس الرمل) is a cable or sandy peninsula on the northern coast of the island of Djerba in southern Tunisia. It is about five kilometers long, approximately 250 meters wide (with variations) and covers 18.56 square kilometers. Due to its importance for waterfowl, it is classified as RAMSAR site.

It lies northeast of Houmt Souk and connects with the island near the Mezraya zone, through a sandy isthmus called Bin Bahrin, which is flooded during high tides, transforming Ras R'mal an island. The cable separates the Gabes Gulf of Bhar Mayet lagoon, also called Sghi Bhar, a place of great ornithological importance.

The peninsula is a popular tourist destination and stop the so-called pirate ships that take tourists on rides along the coast of Djerba. In tourist brochures, it is common to call the Ras R'mal "island of flamingos pink rose" due to the abundance of these birds in the area.
