The Administrative Maximum (ADX) facility in Florence, Colorado, houses offenders requiring the tightest controls. It is part of the Florence Federal Correctional Complex (FCC). The ADX supervises a minimum security satellite prison camp (outside the secure perimeter of the ADX) that houses male offenders. ADX Florence is the only complete Supermax prison in the United States, although other prisons do exist that have Supermax wings.

Ted Kaczynsk - Known as the Unabomber; pleaded guilty in 1998 to building, transporting, and mailing explosives to carry out 16 bombings from 1978 to 1995 in a mail bombing campaign targeting those involved with modern technology, which killed 3 people and injured 23 others.

ADX Florence is located on State Highway 67, 90 miles south of Denver, 45 miles south
of Colorado Springs, and 40 miles west of Pueblo.
