This mosque was a retreat for memorizing the Quran and the sciences of Islamic law. It was a beacon that radiated the light of the Quran. Al-Faki Al-Hussein was interested in this retreat, its sheikhs and its students. He was one of the first to establish retreats for memorizing the Quran in that region.
