  • I attended this school from 1962-1966. One of my fondest memories is of Sports Day; I was not a great athlete but I was always honoured to read The Sportsman's Prayer before it began. This school was where I learned the song "Greensleeves".
  • I was a student here from 1963 to 1966. Loved the school, Sister Joan of Arc was my first teacher. She gave me a love of learning that has endured ever since. A great school, so pleased to see it is still going strong.
  • Wendy Smith nee Pearce I attended St.John's in 1959 and 1960. I was in Standard Four and Standard Five. I remember Sister Mary Faith, and Sister Rosariro and I think Sister Marcellus? My sister, Yvonne five years younger than me went there as well. I am finally going back to Kitwe at the age of 66 and would love to visit the school.
  • They have missed out all the junior classes in the boundary. Aren't they still included in the school.
  • Sister Joan of Arc was also my teacher. My name is Helen Calteaux and she taught me in Standard 4.
  • I was also taught by Sister Mary Faith - she was a lovely lady.
  • I was there from 1964 to 67. Sister Joan of Arc was an exceptional person, My baby brother had a very sweet kindergarden teacher called Sister Alfonsina,
  • I remember Sr Alfonsina. She terrified me. I remember her mouth full of metal fillings and the way she humiliated small chidren. She was like Baba Yaga.
  • (Hi Karen McKay Thanks for saving my son's life at Umhlanga Sands in the mid- '80s. He's 35 with 3 children of his own... and I have a daughter of 16. I hope you're well) I attended this school from '67- '72 and recognise most of the nuns names. Guess I was over-sensitive because I don't remember them with any fondness.
  • thats funny and you are right ... she did have a mouth full of metal !
  • I remember Sisters Damien, Marcella, Mary Faith and the monster Vincent De Paul. They were all nice except De Paul. Hated us boys.
  • You may also remember Sister Regina and Mrs. Jackson, as well as Sister Mary Agnes? I think you may have been in the same grade. We had a boy named Anthony in grade 4.
  • I attended in 1964 - my last two terms of standard 5 before heading off to Kitwe Boys High. we came up from Rhodesia.
