Oldest waste incineration plant in Austria and Vienna city. Built in 1959-62 years, put into operation on April 25, 1963, full operation began in March 1964. At the time of the start of work, the plant could thermally process up to 60% of all municipal waste in Vienna city. Unlike most modern incineration facilities (for 2021), it does not produce electricity. For 2018, the plant produced almost 500,000 megawatt hours of district heating. Like the Spittelau, other oldest WtE plant in Austria, it has undergone several modernizations to development of flue gas filtration systems.
The total capacity of the plant is about 200 thousand tons waste per year and and even more in some years.
