Known for its fountain that sprays vile pond water into the lungs of passersby. In winter this forms decorative patterns of black ice on the pavement.

  • Grimbo relic of a bygone age. This used to be a paddling pool for kids (hence the name). Now home to a nasty, brackish pond.
  • This is actually home to over 30 terapins and nearly a hundred carp. Its a shame that locals dont take better care of it. Currently a bicycle can be seen in the water and a couple of years ago a car crashed into it, spilling out oil. Such a shame...
  • Hardly "brackish" which is a mixture of salt and fresh water!
  • It was a boating lake. Never a paddling pool. Woe betide any child, when it was a Children Amusement park, who tried to get out of their motor-boat or canoe and stand on the island. Paddling would, I suspect, bring down greater wrath from the bot hirer !!
  • I used to work on the boats, train and roundabout circ 1975. Wonderful time college job at weekends. Kevin D'Cruze
