Mercury is a place in Nye County, Nevada, USA, northwest of Las Vegas. It neighbours the Nellis Air Force Range and Nevada Test Site. Mercury includes numerous housing areas for the staff of the test Site.

In 1957 in the proximity (36°40′0″N, 115°59′0″W) of Mercury several Asp rockets were launched to study the explosion clouds of the atomic bombs in Operation Plumbbob.

    It is not an unpleasant place: quiet, peaceful, nice views of the valley and mountains, good cafeteria (great steaks!) ...and almost zero crime (cops everywhere).

    I worked for the DOE for almost 38 years. In that long space of time, yes, I have seen most of "all of it". None the less, the folks in Mercury are all just a bit "touched". You know, pixilated, not in the photographic sense. The joint has/had everything you would want on a hot date.. Theater, cozy bar, supermarket, brothel, schools, hey, wait a minute. Did I say brothels? Oh, I dont know, did I?
