  The community of Kondoros is located in South-Eastern Hungary, Békés county, at the crossing of the roads connecting Gyomaendrőd and Orosháza, and Békéscsaba and Szarvas. The village lies about 15 miles from Békéscsaba, the county capital, 115 miles from Budapest, capital of Hungary, and less than 32 miles from Romania. The village of about 5500 inhabitants is famous in Hungary for its old inn, which operates as a restaurant now and there is also an interesting exhibition on local history in the building. Visitors may also be interested in the nice Evangelic church of an imposing size. There are also a Catholic church, a Baptist church and a nice, new Seventh Day Adventist church in the village. The complexity seen in the religious composition shows itself in other aspects also as a substantial part of the inhabitants maintains Slovakian traditions. Keeping and creating tradition is important in the life of the community. Lanceman Days is an annual event for the memory of Sándor Rózsa, infamous outlaw of the Hungarian Great Plain, and there are also other events in the village throughout the year. After this short introduction, we would like to provide further details of the life of the village with pictures, useful information, and - in case we will have the opportunity later - with reporting local events and interviewing local people also. This site is not official, there are no orgaziations supporting it, and it is edited in our spare time. For this reason, its updates will be occasional and sometimes irregular. At the same time and for the same reason, it will serve with surprises and novelties from time to time so that it will worth to check back occasionally.
