Unisan is a 5th class municipality with an area of 12,850 hectares. Inhabited since the Spanish Regime by the people from different regimes of the Philippines, this town is noted for being one of the oldest municipality of the island and the first capital of the province of Tayabas. The present population is about 20,000.
