A Copper Tailings project in Kazakhstan. A pilot scale in-situ leaching plant has been constructed which has facilitated SX-EW optimisation tests to be conducted on large tonnage samples. The SX-EW plant has been operational on-site since August 2008 and after successful year-round operations between August 2008 and August 2010, has produced over 300 tonnes of 99.99% grade copper. The process has demonstrated low costs and low acid consumption with over 50% leach recovery from the dumps.
