Beaverton, Oregon

USA / Oregon / Beaverton /

Beaverton, Oregon, is a suburban city of Portland located west of Portland proper and east of Hillsboro. Although largely residential, the Beaverton area is home to many companies such as Nike, Columbia Sportswear, Tektronix, and numerous technology startups as well as many retail establishments. Beaverton's city limits are rather chaotic due to the friction between local political interests and stakeholders. So, much of what people refer to as the "Beaverton area" is not actually within city limits, but in unincorporated Washington County. (See the polygon, which represents the city limits as of 2015.) Discussions regarding annexation into Beaverton have occurred in Aloha, Reedville, Cedar Mill, Cedar Hills and Bonny Slope. Annexations of these unincorporated areas could lead to Beaverton becoming the second most populous city in Oregon.

The major transportation corridors in Beaverton include US-26 (the "Sunset Highway"), OR-217, Tualatin Valley Highway (better known as "TV Highway"), and the MAX light rail Blue Line.

The Bachelorette star Meredith Phillips was born in Beaverton.
