    This is my family Pind , most of my Family now live in and around Birmingham , England. The way things are deterioating here in the Bilith, I would not be surprised if there is a mass exodus of UK Sahotas back to the homeland in the very near future. 1st step is to get our Overseas Citezenship of India, this will entitle us non Indian residents to open up Business in the Punjab.

    HISTORY OF LAHAR FAMILY Mr.Ved Prakash Lahar is a Medical Doctor by profession. He opened and established “ Free India Hospital” at Dosanjh Kalan in the year 1946. He lived at Dosanjh Kalan up to 1953. On October 7, 1953 he shifted his hospital at Goraya, on the day, India’s first Rashtarpati Dr. Rajindra Parshad handed over newly built city Chandigarh to the nation. On October 10, 1981 (day of Dussehra) he left for Canada. Now he is a Canadian citizen. When he came back to India for a visit, he went to respect forefathers’ place and he saw the naked and in rough condition plot, He wished to see the plot in a shape of boundary around it. He is son of late Pt. Shankar Dass Lahar Hakim and Mata Janki Devi. He is grandson of late Pt. Amin Chand Hakim of Dosanjh Kalan. He was born at Dosanjh Kalan on October 19, 1926. He lived at Dosanjh Kalan up to 1953 and lived at Goraya up to 1981. He worked also in active politics in Indian National Congress Party. He remained active member, Secretary and President of Block Congress Committee of Goraya Block and Member of Executive District Congress Committee of Jalandhar. Now He is residing at Toronto, Canada. Dr. Ved Prakash Lahar, my father decided to write a book on “ History of Lahar Family at Poadara and Dosanjh Kalan”. He also took initiative to build the place Lahar Jathere. Before this building there was place to do Puja and bow head in respect of the forefathers. There was a plot of land measuring about two and half Kanals, villagers of Poadara allotted in consolidation (Marabba Bandi) of village land. No boundary or marking was marked around the plot. Dr.Ved Prakash Lahar who initiated to do something to make the plot under control, be marked and bring the plot within the boundary and to make it in ability to build there some construction. Now he is writing memorable and valuable informative Book on Lahar History. I hope all Lahar generations now and to come will appreciate his creation. They will keep remember and respect their ancestors. I know there is no such a book to get such useful information. I appreciate and welcome this useful book from the depth of my heart. I hope every Lahar member will appreciate and get benefit of this book.
