The former origin of the village is attested by the passage of a Roman way, parallel to the coast, which crossed the Orne by means of a tub) situated in the port of Bénouville and won is it by Ranville. Since very old times, till the beginning of the XIXth, we extracted the quarries of quality stones which were of use to numerous constructions of the region. The history says that the cathedral of Westminster in London, was built in stones of Ranville.
