Sukchon County (Sukch'ŏn-gun), South Pyongan Province, DPRK.
This small county was formed in 1895 under the Yi dynasty, but later absorbed into neighboring Pyongwon County in 1914. After 1952, the county was restored to an independent municipality. The county played a significant role in the Korean war; A part of the famous Battle of Pakchon between American and Chinese forces was fought in the area in 1950.
