Btibyat (بتبيات)is a small village located in Matn Aala area, in the valley of Lamartin (old french poet)in Lebanese Mountains. This village name consists of two parts: beit and bayat which meens the place of rest, where old merchant conveys heading and coming from Beirut, Capital of Lebanon, used to stay and rest in this village due to its positoin in the middle of Lamartin valley, running away from snow in upper parts of Lebanese Mountains.
It was hit by Amercian Navy Ship "New Jersy" in Feb. 9th 1982, in the Lebanese War due to their wrongly estimation on the presence of a palestinean military base, this hit cost Btibyat a total loss in its infrastructure and several were killed and injured, without any sorry of uncle sam navy...as always!
