It is situated in the prefecture Mousouron.It starts in Skines and it ascends, ending in the Omalo plateu.It is here that the ancient rizitika songs.The renowned Cretan rizitiko songs are a privilege and virtue of the inhabitants of Western Creten who dwell in Leuka Ori in “ the domain of Musurus” (Strata Musuron). The name derives from the Greek word “ riza”, which means roots. Our roots -our cultural heritage- are the basis of life (for a tree it is a source of nutrition, a direct and solid link to Mother Earth). As such the basis of our culture are the rizitiko songs which carry on our traditions, the beliefs and the legends of the Greek land. These songs are sung today as they were in ancient times, “ from the depths of time”, in the villages Orthouni, Skafidakia, Karanos, Lakkoi, Meshkla, Zourva, Therissos,Keramia Kydonias, Livada, Koustogerako, Moni, Agia Eirini Selinos, and in the districts of Sfakia, Apokorona, Kissamos and Selino.
