The only remaining beach resort hotel on the island, it has struggled with repeated closures because of volcanic activity. At present (Dec. 2007), the owners do not plan to reopen. They seek to build elsewhere, farther from the volcano.

Does anyone know if this hotel is still operational?

The website and the hotel have both been closed since 2008. The area around the Belham River is simply not guaranteed safe anymore; as you can see, the whole river valley has been filled up with lahars so the banks offer no protection from pyroclastic flows anymore. It's not LIKELY, but entirely possible that the southern portions of Old Town and Salem could be hit with an especially big PF down the Belham River valley. And the authorities don't want to risk a bunch of foreign tourists getting killed and ruining the tourist industry forever. So it's still closed and will probably be bulldozed or abandoned eventually.
