Blanca Peak (4 372m / 14 345ft). It is the fourth highest mountain in the state, and the seventh highest in the contiguous United States. It is located at the southern end of the Sangre de Cristo Range, a subrange of the larger Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and is the highest peak in both ranges. It marks the common boundary of Huerfano, Costilla and Alamosa counties.

In Navajo mythology this is the Sacred Mountain of the East or Tsisnaasjini' - Dawn or White Shell Mountain. The Navajo religion is distinct in that it must be practiced in a particular geographical area, known as the Dinetah (the traditional Navajo homeland). Navajo people believe that the Holy People instructed them never to leave the land between four sacred mountains located in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona. (credit Wikipedia)
