  • I think Ramu is confusing Everest (named Sagarmatha in the 1950s by the Nepalese government) with Kailash, which is, indeed, a very holy place. Seems more appropriate to call it Qomolangma, the traditional Tibetan name.

  • Mount Everest, call it by whatever name, belongs to the whole humanity. It's not the property of any one nation, it's an awesome wonder and a gift from mother Earth.
  • Glax is right about it growing. It really was first surveyed at 29,000 feet but the crew knew no one would believe that number so they reported it a few feet higher. It is actually growing at nearly 2 inches a year.
