Ankoko Island

Ankoko Island is located at the confluence of the Cuyuni River and Wenamu River, at 6°43′N, 61°8′W, on the border between the Cuyuni-Mazaruni region of Guyana and Bolívar State of Venezuela. The island was once peacefully shared by both countries until armed troops of the Venezuelan army seized control of the Guyanese side (east) in 1966.
