High Corn Mill

United Kingdom / England / Skipton / Chapel Hill
store / shop, office building, shopping mall, Grade II Listed (UK)

The Mill dates back to 1310 when it was owned by Robert de Clifford, having been handed to the powerful Clifford family by the then King Edward II. Originally there were two mills which produced corn for the whole of Skipton. In 1954 the castle estate was broken up before the Mill came into the hands of Geoge Leatt, a local businessman, in the 1960s who then converted it into an industrial museum and seed merchants.

Passing through several hands over the years, and also being known under various different names -- Water-Corne Milne and the Soke Mill -- it finally became High Corn Mill and the location of several shops and businesses.
