The Road to nowhere (Yate)

Presumably originally intended to link to roads the other side of the railway line, it was never finished and never opened to traffic, though it has been properly surfaced up to the point where it tails off. These days it is only used by cyclists and, apparently, occasionally to film an episode or two of Casualty.

  • Back in the 70s it was going to be a bypass, but the council ran out of money when it came to building the bridge. It has never been completed.
  • The Owner Of The House at The end of the road would not sell to the council and they had already built and completed the road surfacing so it remained unfinished, you would have thought someone would have asked that question before road surfacing began
