This is the creme-de-la-creme of wayside rests, and is really a destination of its own for a family outing.

This rest area is located at the spot where Interstate 90 was joined, as the east and west construction teams met in 1978. As a tribute, there is a golden stripe of concrete on the interstate on both sides of the freeway (slightly off from each other), in between the sides of the rest stop. This draws a parallel to the golden spike set in the first transcontinental railroad.

Besides the usual restroom and candy machine facilities, this is a complete park with beautiful hiking trails and creek ravine wandering under the freeway between the north and south rest areas.
