One of the oldest sports club in Pula, Rowing Club Istra which is successor of the first nautical society established on 19 September 1886 under the name of Societa Nautica «Pietas Julija», on the location of today's Rowing Clubhouse Istra. Throughout its long history, the Rowing Club became unavoidable sports institution and one of the most successful sports clubs, which is persistent and responsible in preserving the tradition of mass, but top-quality academic rowing in its city and surrounding Istrian area along the coast.
Nowadays, there are more than 200 male and female rowers aged 8 to 55(and older), who either attend the rowing school or are cadets, juniors, seniors, veterans or amateurs. There are also several handicapped persons who train according to specially designed programs and the Club is also involved in the campaign “Fight Against Drugs with Sports”.
