This is where it all took off for Crewe. The railway junction is an important junction on the West Coast main line. Immediately to the north, lines to Chester and Manchester leave the main line, and shortly afterwards, another line leaves for Liverpool. The station has 12 platforms, being the largest station in the UK for the size of the town it serves.
