Castle Schnellenberg in the German Sauerland region was chronicled for the first time in 1222. Originally built for the protection of the Heidenstraße, the fortress experienced its heyday starting from 1594 with the transfer to the Baron of Fürstenberg, who rebuilt the castle into a Renaissance-style family residence. In 1927, the Bilsing family negotiated a tenancy agreement with the Fürstenbergs. They then started a farm and a summertime spa with an inn. Finally in 1959, the Bilsing family opened Castle Hotel Schnellenberg.

The 4* castle hotel offers a magical charm and a hospitable atmosphere for demanding guests. Stylishly furnished rooms, rustic Knights’ Hall, Renaissance chapel, high watchtowers and treasure chamber are just some of so many highlights to be inspected in the well-preserved castle grounds.

Places of excursions in the region include the Hanseatic town Attendorn (town hall, cathedral, South Sauerland Museum and dripstone cave), Biggesee, Elspe and 2 amusement parks (Fort Fun and Panorama Park).
