  • In this place, I still remember when I'm just 12 years old, I almost lost my life when I pick a kind of fish and prick my hand (not an orchin/tayung). I got numbness and high fever. I was told by my grand-parents the late Manuel-Consuelo Bustamante, they thought I will die that night. Thanks to Timog family for their hosting to our visit to Cagmanaba. junrex
  • I am uncertain of the species of fish called "amomorok" or "hitong dagat" or "tayung" referred to in the local dialect above, but the puffer-fish could be the culprit. When threatened, it enlarges to many times its original dimensions, making the venomous spines to stick out like barbed wire. The fish's toxin causes swelling of the tissues, in turn squeezing blood vessels and compromising the circulation. One dire consequence of that situation is gangrene of the affected limb. The toxin also spreads to vital organs, inducing toxemia, septicemia, shock, and other life-threatening symptoms. You were very fortunate, Mr. Junrex, to have recovered from that episode. But we want you to know that we're very glad you're hale and hearty now. The physical beauty of Cagmanaba is world-class in stature , and could be a magnificent resort/vacation locale.
